They sure don't make them like they use to, what ever happened to all the good black sitcoms, remember Different Strokes, Sister Sister, Moesha, Fresh Prince of Bel Air.....What happened to all those good writers. Well I can't get enough of this one sitcom and if anyone wants to treat me to a late birthday present then please buy me the full box set of Girlfriends. Its not has back dated as some of the few I have mentioned above but it truly was a phenomenal show, I was beside myself when I learnt it had been dropped and was never to return.
Girlfriends revolves around the friendship of four African-American women from different walks of life. They explore the many trails and tribulations that most women face today such as relationships, family, friends and other hot-topics. My favourite characters were Joan Carol Clayton (played by Tracee Ellis Ross) and Antoinette "Toni" Marie Childs Garrett (played by Jill Marie Jones) yeah she's my inner diva. The wardrobe on set was to die for, the mix of colours, bags, shoes, it was here I first knew what a Hermes bag was....oh how i miss this show! It was in my opinion the black version of Sex & the City and was just as fabulous and crazy, the show highlighted black women in high working position living good lives and wearing fab clothes which is hardly portrayed on TV now a days. Anyways if you didn't know about it now you do and as a treat I have uploaded an episode just so you can understand why I am ranting on about it, This is the episode when Toni realises the truth about her husband financial status.....hilarious! Enjoy!!!!!
